Decorating under the stairs...

home decor blog
When we first moved into our house two years ago we did have a little armchair and retro cord telephone under our stairs, it looked lovely. However when I found out I was pregnant we decided cordless phones were more practical although super ugly, plus I cant remember the number of times I bumped my head stooping down to try and answer the phone. I always wanted to maximise this little space, as somewhere to set the post and your car keys. The key was doing it on a tight budget. I wanted a little console table and a floor lamp and somewhere to put some little trinkets but still keeping the space clutter free.

The table I ended up sourcing on amazon of all places and is solid pine so if we ever want to paint or stain it the option is there. I changed the black handles for these brass & white ones which I got in TK Maxx. The lamp was an Ikea bargain and I chose a filament style bulb and no shade, then I added a little heart basket for my keys, also from TK Maxx, a couple of framed prints & my Orla Keily toolbox. (which is concealing our ugly router)

So there you have it, Im pretty happy about how this small space turned out, its perfect for setting stuff when you rush in the front door and it opens up our hallway and the lamp brightens this dark corner in the evenings.
