Designing my living room...

If you have been following my blog for a while now you'll know that my home is a work in progress. We moved into the 4 bed detached house in the summer of 2015 and have been slowly making our mark one room at time. We started with the kitchen, which needed a complete make over, ripping the whole thing out including the flooring and lighting and starting again. We then moved onto our bedroom, tv/snug room and our hall & landing. Now my thoughts (and savings) are going towards our big living room which will be so great for entertaining when we have friends & family round.

The room needs a complete overhaul - when we moved in it had no flooring as the previous owners took the carpet with them. So far we have stripped off the old floral wallpaper, painted a feature wall in a teal colour and the other walls have been painted in a cool ice blue. We have laid wooden flooring and ripped out the old fireplace and replaced it with a brick one which we have painted white and topped with a railway sleeper style mantel. With all of that done the fun can now begin with the furnishings! I want modern clean lines with a mid century modern feel but I also want lots of soft furnishings to keep the place cosy and inviting. Im thinking a mix of teals and blues and soft greys for rugs and cushions but am torn between neutral coloured sofas or a statement blue sofa.

We are hoping to mix modern and old and new and second hand for an eclectic feel, and I cant wait to share the finished room with you guys!!
