First Baby Buys...Monday, September 26, 2016
Book: Beatrix Potter / Socks: Tesco / Rattle: Mamas & Papas / Music box: Antique
Until our 20 week scan Dave & I didnt want to buy anything but now that I am 24 weeks we have been slowly buying little things and deciding what big things we need and what we want the nursery to look like. I thought id share some of the items we have bought here on the blog because its so exciting and Im really enjoying the process of collecting things. The first thing we bought were a couple of Beatrix Potter books from a little second hand book shop. I always loved these books growing up and I know my copies are hidden somewhere in my parents roofspace, but when I spotted these mint condition copies I had to buy a few in case I couldnt locate mine.
The little music box use to belong to my granny, she had lots and I have so many fond memories playing with them when I was a kid, these got divided up between her grandchildren and this was the one I got and now my baby will be able to wind it up and listen to the music I use to hear as a kid.
I really wanted a baby journal and when I saw this super chic Orla Kiely one I knew I had to have it! Its more for after the baby is born than for pregnancy but its still a great book full of Orla's best prints and great baby checklists!
Dave & I have started thinking quite early on about baby names and even had the discussion before I was pregnant. The idea of naming someone, a name they will have their whole life is so huge! We had several boys names we liked and but only one girls name we liked so we bought this book above to give us some more ideas. However we found out at our 20 week scan we are having a baby boy(!) so no need to think about girls names any more!! Yay! & phew! So glad to share that news with you all, I have been trying so hard not to say 'he' since we announced the pregnancy those few weeks ago! Baby Mcg is a little boy, just like in my dream back when I was only a few weeks pregnant.
First baby grows we bought were these ones from Next, I just love all the funky prints and bright colours out at the minute! Im not big into the pastel pink or pastel blue for baby's, give me bright colours and jungle prints any day! Id also been told these were the best to get because they popper right down the front for easy in and out access and have built in scratch mitts which all my mummy friends tell me is essential! I swear I learn something new everyday!
Monkey: M&S / Hat & Mittens: Boots
First baby teddy, we couldnt resist this little monkey with soft jingle bell inside. I wanted something more aimed for boys in his first teddy and Dave & I have always had a soft spot for monkey's so this seemed perfect. The little hat and gloves were again too cute to resist and for a January baby most essential to keeping warm for walks.
So there you have it a few little things we collected after my 20 week scan, we are now looking at what prams we want and all the essential items we need like sterilisers and bottles and types of nappies! There is so much to decide!
