Dave & I couldn't afford to take the time off work to go on a proper honeymoon right away but as a surprise wedding present my brother & sister booked us a two night stay in Skibbereen, Co. Cork. We stayed in the cutest cottage with a hot tub on the balcony. eh amazing!

I thought id share a few of our favourite places in case anyone is thinking of visiting this part of the world.
Lough Hyne: A marine water lake with amazing forest walks, stunning scenery & heritage visit centre if you're feeling like brushing up some more info about the area.
Schull: A random wee town that we came across by chance, has the most amazing Crepe Patisserie run by a french couple. Its quaint and hosts a country food market from April to September everyday but Sunday.
Baltimore: Another little town full of pubs and harbours and thats pretty much it. Has a great buzz about it, attracts tourists and locals from all round. From here you can get ferries to Sherkin Island & Cape Clear which we didnt have time to do but definitely sound worth it if you can fit it in.

Mizen Head: The most southernly tip of Ireland, were you loop through the cliffs over bridges and watch seals in coves below. Beautiful views but insanely windy so wear layers!
Barley Cove: On route to Mizen Head, beautiful untouched golden beach with the bluest waters Ive ever seen. Worth a pit stop and a paddle if its warm.

My advice for this part of the world is have wifi on your phone and maps, sign posts are kinda few and far between and its easy to get lost or turned around. Bring clothing for all weathers, although it is definitely got the sunshine you'd expect of being as far south as you can get in Ireland!

Hope you guys liked me little review. :) Special thanks to my brother Adam & sister Sophie for an amazing wedding present! xx

  4. Looks like a lovely place. I've never been to Ireland despite living just across the water. It's somewhere to go at least once in my life.
