With love, your bridesmaids

Thursday, February 20, 2014

Hi there! With Vicki soon to be married and this weekend being her hen weekend, her slightly mischievous bridesmaids have taken control of her blog for the day to bring you a special reflection on the bride-to-be!

Vicki doesn’t know anything about the weekend, (seriously how we all managed to not say anything I do not know!) and when we first asked her if we could take control of her blog I think we might have said we would share a few details about what she should expect, but sorry Vicki  you are going to have to wait a little longer…Instead we are going to reflect on how we know the Magpie girl.

I am Vicki’s younger (and shorter) sister Sophie and I am so excited and pleased that Vicki has asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. I will always remember Vicki calling me as I was sitting on a train in Scotland to tell me she was engaged (I may have got so excited that I think everyone on that train worked out what that call was about) and I really can't wait for the happy day. But let’s rewind a bit. As I said I am Vicki’s wee sister and growing up in the country we spent a lot of our time playing hide and seek out in the garden, chilling in our amazing ‘rock den’ (think ditch in the middle of a field), and horse riding,  there may also have been some times when I wanted to poke her…

Being the older sister it was Vickis job to crimp my hair, and give advice on fashion. This started pretty early with our very 80s matching outfits, to name only one example  but trust me there are many, many more…

Vicki also lent me an outfit for my first ‘night out’ which I think was a denim skirt and a ripped Beatles t-shirt, which might have started a long period of me stealing her clothes... A few years later I moved away for uni but Vicki often came to visit for the weekend, to go out shopping, drink lots of tea, eat cake and maybe even have the odd night out.

But now Vicki it’s a very different weekend as its only one more sleep til your hen party! I hope we will be able to give you a special weekend with friends. xox

Hi guys, Heidi here, Victoria’s cousin and one very excited bridesmaid-to-be! Victoria and I were born a few weeks apart so we pretty much grew up together. With two older brothers for company, my dear cousin helped me survive all their wind-ups and deflected some of the brotherly beatings fun and games over the years!

(We were both so cute….where did it all go wrong!?)

So you all know Victoria as the stylish ‘Magpie Girl’ she is today but she was not always quite so fashionable and I feel it is my duty to share a few details of her fashion mishaps with you all….like the patchwork denim jeans of her teenage years (cringe), the black bra and see through white top at her 18th birthday party and the leggings, horse themed jumpers and not quite so stylish ‘statement’ glasses of her younger days

(Children of the 80s….I blame our parents)

On a more serious note, I am really honoured to be Victoria’s bridesmaid and only hope I can do half as good a job as she did for me on my big day! Although Victoria is my cousin, I have always considered her a friend first and foremost, and I just hope we can give her the best hen party EVER!

Finger monster fun (will we ever grow up?)

So cousin dear, strap yourself in (is this a hint, who knows?), the hen party is here… said you wanted a really old man stripper right?  Heidi XXX

Hi everyone, I'm Jo and I'm Vicki's bff and very proud to be one of her bridesmaids.  I met Vicki a few years ago *cough* nearly 20 actually, which is crazy to think about.

During our school years we spent many a night in dancing round our bedrooms until we were old enough and 'cool' enough to get dressed up for our first experience out clubbing at an under 16 night at a local nightclub lol I have so many pictures that I look back on and laugh because we thought we looked so good at the time and we really didn't!

Life got in the way for a bit and Vicki and I lost touch after school finished despite the best of intentions to meet up.  During that time I got married and had my daughter Aimee.  I was so happy when Vicki and I met up again through my sister and the rest as they say is history:)

We have been besties ever since making Tuesday nights our regular night in where we indulge in our secret obsession, watching Supernatural!

I was so pleased when Vicki met Dave and I think we all knew then that he was the one.  I'll never forget her pulling her hand out from under her jacket to show me her engagement ring the weekend they got engaged.  I wish the two of them all the best for their future life together and I'm sure it's going to be filled with love, laughs and lots of adventures.  But before the big day comes the hen do;) I'm not going to give anything away but we have a great weekend planned and I hope the bride to be is prepared lol.

So Vicki from all your bridesmaids, we hope you are ready cause who knows what the weekend will bring....
