From baby to beast...

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

So if you've been reading my blog for a while you'll know Im kinda dog crazy. I couldn't be without at least one little furry pet. This stems from my parents who I would say are dog insane. If such a thing exists... we've had jack russells, cairn terriers, lab/retriever cross, pugs ( as you all know!) and at one time we had an Irish wolf hound. So when my dad told me this time last year that he was getting a harlequin Great Dane, I thought he'd lost the plot. We'd had a big dog before they were a
lot of work & Danes more so as they need a lot of attention & love. They are known for being couch potatoes..imagining a full size great dane roaming round our house seemed like a disaster waiting to happen.
But a year on Bentley is the most loveable docile dog we have. I couldnt imagine the house without him. So I thought id share some recent photos of him, along side the first photo I shared of him on my blog when he was a puppy.

Ain't he cute? He's just over 1 year old, 10 1/2 stone & he can continue to grow up until he is 3 years old!

  2. I have so much love for this post! What a handsome beast he is. We work with the Great Dane Rescue closely at work, and it's lovely to see when they find homes & get back to health. I'm not sure I'd ever own one, but they are beauts of dogs xx

  15. He's huge! My family are dog mad too! We have three spaniels, two of whom are rescue dogs. The problem is spaniels have to do everything at 100mph, 24 hours a day.

  46. I am really appreciated to read your blog and wonderful dog collection. I have also a beautiful dog. I have bought it from http://encyclopediaofdogbreeds.com/large-dog-breeds/ .Then I have to choose a different and cool name for our dog with responsibility. If you want a nice and gentle response from everyone, we must choose a good name for the dog. 47. Dogs that look deformed are often breeds that don’t have any more working lines and the show line breeders completely took over. Working lines in breeds are healthy and look similar to their ancestors. For example many show line German Shepherds are very different from working line and Czech German Shepherds that I think they should eventually be considered different breeds. If you want to preserve a breed and keep dogs looking like dogs, the working lines have to be preserved.
