Dressing for New York...

Tuesday, October 02, 2012

Next Wednesday Dave & I will be traveling to Dublin at the crack of dawn to hop on a plane to New York!
I have a list as long as my arm of places I want to see, shop in, eat in etc etc but I havent really thought of what ill wear?! Its kind of a catch 22, I want to save all money to buy nice things out there but I wanna pack nice things to wear while Im there too. So Ive made the informed rational (cough) decision to buy one or two pieces that I need for the trip..

So what Ive been thinking is taking simple comfortable dresses that I can layer with a denim shirt for the day & a leather jacket and heels for the evening. I need to double up with things so I can save room & weight for shopping!

1st board: Dress: River Island, Satchel: Max C, Casio Watch, Socks: Asos, Loafers: Zara. Aztec necklace: Miss Selfridge, Belt: Asos, Nikon Watch, Heels: Topshop

2nd board: Dress: River Island, Denim Shirt: H&M, Neon bangles: Zara, Trainer wedges: Asos.
Collar & Belt: Topshop, Boots: Cheap Monday, Clutch: H&M

I think the key is flats for during the day & the occasional dressy boot for the evening, as Ill be walking A LOT! A large bag maybe a backpack to carry my camera, wallet & daily essentials then a glam clutch for night. The weather is gonna be like 10 degrees hotter that here so Im hoping either socks or bare legs will do.

  1. The first time I went to New York, a few years ago, I went around the same time as you - beginning of October - and the weather was lovely! They most I really needed for the day time was a little cardigan, it was only in the evening that I'd stick a jacket on when it was a little colder.
