Wearing a few of my new favourite pieces...
This cut out heart cardigan which is the perfect long length and a warm high waisted skirt..

oh and you can finally see the flecks of gold in my tights... cosy with a hint of luxe.

totally in love with this over sized cameo locket..

Coat: Oasis, Cardigan: Primark, Tweed skirt: River Island, Belt: Miss Selfridge, Boots & Tights; M&S, necklace c/o Cutiepie. ring: Topshop.
I bought this skirt just before Christmas and havent had a chance to wear it yet.. (think its down in sale now unfort.) I had been looking for a high waisted winter skirt that wasn't too short and when I spotted this tweed one with odd gold buttons down the front I had to have it..
Problem is I'm kinda stumped on what to wear with it.. as Ive said a zillion times before I'm print and patterned obsessed and wearing it with a block colour on top seems too plain for me.
On this occasion I teamed it with the cut out cardy which adds another pattern with out being over empowering..
What do you think about mixing tweed with prints? maybe with polka dots? Too much?

  3. This outfit is absolutely gorgeous! i don't think there's anything wrong with mixing tweed with another print, a polkadot would be lovely - maybe a red colour would be nice aswell :) xxx

  6. I really love that skirt! It does go beautifully with that cardi!
I'm probably wear it with Breton stripes, polka dots or florals. But then I love clashing patterns ha :) x

  7. I think you could get away with wearing the skirt with a colour top to mix it up. Its very sweet, the whole outfit works. Maybe try mixing the patterns, take a pic, then looking might help, its not a very large print, so it might be more flexible than one thinks. All is fun with experimenting :) xx

  8. I love this skirt- the high waisted-ness gives a cool twist to the traditional tweed. Might look nice with a small, understated floral print?
I love how you've styled it here though- esp the tights!

  9. I really like this whole outfit, but if you were wanting to add more pattern to it, i don't think little polka dots would be too much at all! I'm like you in that i have some kind of aversion to plain things - i'm a pattern mixer !! i love the tights, was quite tempted by some blue with flecks of colours in the topshop sale, bt managed to hold back!! :)

  11. So damn cool outfit :) I have always wanted to have at least one high waisted skirt, but it really distorts my figure, cause I'm too little.

  12. Love the outfit =) Everything about it is perfect!! I know what you mean about wearing block colour on top, maybe you could try it with a floral print top? But quite a light coloured one that's not too busy so it doesn't draw attention away from the skirt. But it looks very quite as it is anyway =D

  13. Love your outfit! The skirt is lovely, and the tights. And as for a different print maybe a faded floral or polkadot, so still there, but understated? xx

  28. I say mix the prints, tweed with polka dots sounds really cute to me. Even try a darker floral print...you might be suprised at the number of things that do work with the skirt. Gorgeous outfit though, the tights are my favourite!

  32. Oh I really like that skirt, especially teamed up with the cardi. I know what you mean though - I always struggle for things to wear with tweed. I haven't moved away from block colours yet but if I find anything else that works I'll let you know!

  37. Amazing outfit. I really like the skirt. The gold buttons on it look really cool.
I think the tweed went well with the cardi. I think you'd be ok to mix it with polka dots. Maybe smaller dots.
