Urban Shooting...

Wednesday, November 17, 2010

Ive said before on my blog that all my photos are taken in the countryside around my house, or parks or places me and Dave visit at the weekend. These photos were taken while I was shopping in the centre of Belfast, they are the first photos Ive taken in such a built up place and Id say they'll be the last!
I dunno how people who live in cities take blog photos? about 20 people walked past me and starred.. I mean come on? way to make a girl feel uncomfortable.. when a passing car beeped its horn at me that was the end of my urban shooting... so apologies for the lack of photos with this post, I think you can pretty much read 'uncomfortable' written across my face in these! lol..

Blazer: Zara, Dress: Miss Selfridge, Boots: River Island, Necklace: Warehouse sale,
rings: Paris markets.

Im heading to Amsterdam tomo with Dave and a few friends and cant wait!! Ill be away until Sunday, hopefully ill be able to take loads of photos to show you guys when I get back.
My plans are so far: rent bikes & cycle around, visit the Van Gogh museum, two door cinema club gig, shop! ( esp at the Monki store) and visit the flower markets..
If any of you have been to Amsterdam or live there and know of any great places or restuarants or bars I should visit please let me know!

  4. I know about the photos! i live in birmingham and there's NO WAY i can tak photos without being ashamed. i don't even have a backgarde or smth like this, so in order to get some nice shots, i'd have to get out in front of my house and strike a pose with ppl staring and cars passing by. i tried it once and i reached my witts' end in 5 mins. plus there were some workers that repaired the roof of a house. i just could hear them laughing. embarassing :|

  18. Oh and I have no problem taking photos in public but my so called "photographer" (my sister) is afraid :))

Just say to yourself : at the end of the day, no one will remember that they saw a girl taking photos in the street. People have bigger problem and whenever they stare at you or joke about you, it is important to know that it won't last forever and no one will remember it ..

:) This is my opinion .

  24. I think people are a bit odd about anything they see as outside of the norm. If you looked like a tourist and were pulling big cheesey thumbs up poses, they'd probably be fine with it! But anyway, they were probably looking and honking because you're a complete stunner, not for any other reason.

Have a fab time in Amsterdam!

I don't know how some bloggers do constant city scape photography - I hate doing mine in our shared courtyard! Embarrassing. You look wonderful though - that's why they stare! xx

  47. Before I moved to NYC, most of my photos were taken in the areas surrounding my rural home in Manitoba, Canada. So I can definitely understand your discomfort when I moved to NYC and didn't have huge forests or miles of prairie to photograph in. However, I've gotten used to the stares, and luckily people photograph ANYTHING in the city, so I don't think New Yorkers are that taken aback by it. I recently shot my latest post (Lanvin H&M dress) in a park near my apartment full of children and families. So many kids were enchanted by the dress and at one point several people stopped to watch "the photoshoot". Just be brave! If you don't act like you're uncomfortable, people can't see your a little insecure about the situation, and eventually they'll just let it be. Curiosity is part of human nature!

Awkward photos aside, you look great in this post! I love the booties and that necklace is major!

  50. Well I'm impressed you stuck it out through people staring at you! I usually just run away at that point and then go cry in a corner. You know what I think it is? I think the amazing badass power of those incredible boots gave you the confidence to do it. Because those boots fucking rule.
