alice in wonderland

Through the looking glass...

Monday, March 01, 2010

Ive had a slight obsession with Alice in Wonderland since i was a kid, it was such a crazy yet wonderful story and it seems with Tim Burtons release of his version of the film where Alice goes back to Wonderland ten years on has sparked an obsession in everyone.

Above:
Disney Couture has created a whole Alice in Wonderland inspired jewellery range available at ASOS. Miss Selfridge has created Tim Burton-esque prints from the film on vests and tees.
Asos has also created the multiple charm necklace above with rabbit, watch and teapot.

The house above is Antony House near Plymouth where Wonderland was created and filmed,
the National Trust has opened this Wonderland to the public from March.
Part of the experience is following a butterfly trial, through a rabbit hole into a magical garden where a caterpillar sits blowing bubbles at you, playing croquet on the lawn, look out for glimpses of Alice and Cheschire cat. (how amazing does this sound!)

Shoes above created by Nicholas Kirkwood, I love the big roses and tiny teapots!
The pink dress is Versace Spring 2010 collection, if you look closely you can see the clocks and
playing cards worked into the print. The whole Spring collection was inspired by Alice in Wonderland. The sketch above is my humble design inspired by Alices dress, I kept the cornflower blue but added red heart shaped pockets inspired by the Queen of hearts.
Hopefully soon ill have time to actually make it!
